Great question. For quite a while there, it seemed D7880 was the stop contender to replace S8262 for reversible, removable oral appliance for TMJD. More recently, it seems more insurers are preferring 21299 instead (especially the BCBS’s). Make sure to include a narrative describing the appliance since 21299 is one of those “unlisted procedure” codes!
