Hi Guest!

If you can supply the list of CDT (dental) codes used for the procedures you have received and will receive, we're happy to offer you some CPT (medical) coding options to send along to your medical insurer.

I was in a an accident extensive to my face.
Fractured Maxilla x 3, Nasal Bone x 3.
Tooth was jammed in Maxilla (surgically removed)
Lost 3 teeth, Had to have Endodontist Specialists to do several Root canals to save other teeth. Rearrange teeth due to everything being forced backwards. Wire stabilizer.
Now waiting for Bone &Tissue Grafts for implants.

My insurance is Cigna (medical & dental) Ins will not approve for Medical because CPT codes are in Dental.

How can I get this done since it is trauma related and get more paid than just $1500.00.

Hi Guest!

No problem!

D7510 – incision and drainage of abscess – intraoral soft tissue

Based on what the narrative report describes about the location of the abscess, here are some coding options for you below:
40800 - Drainage of abscess, cyst, hematoma, vestibule of mouth; simple
40801 - Drainage of abscess, cyst, hematoma, vestibule of mouth; complicated
41800 - Drainage of abscess, cyst, hematoma from dentoalveolar structures

Hope this helps!

HI,
A patient had a D7510 I&D of Abscess- Intraoral Soft done which I have to submit to the medical carrier first. There are requesting the corresponding Medical Code for the D7510.
Would really appreciate the help.
Thank you.
"Dr's narrative if it helps: Pt has fluctuant swelling buccal to #14 tooth. Cavitron used to debride calculus subgingivally around #13,14, 15 teeth. Incision made to bone, drained buccal swelling, irrigated with sterile saline. 4-0 chromic suture x 1 placed. POIG."

Hi Doreen!

D0220 - intraoral - periapical first radiographic image
can be cross coded to:
70300 - Radiologic examination, teeth; single view

D0230 - intraoral - periapical each additional radiographic image
Can be cross coded to:
70310 - Radiologic examination, teeth; partial examination, less than full mouth

D3310 - endodontic therapy anterior tooth (excluding final restoration)
D2750 - crown - porcelain fused to high noble metal
D2954 - prefabricated post and core in addition to crown

The codes listed above do not have a direct crosscode we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can try the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

Hope this helps!
