Hi Guest!

As for the coding - here is the CPT code for a CT scan:
70486 - Computed tomography, maxillofacial area; without contrast material

If billing for both the technical and professional component, 70486 would be billed with no modifier. Or, if only the technical or professional component is being performed, you can use the following modifiers on the code to indicate that:
26 - Professional Component
TC - Technical Component

Some insurers will require the office to do an accreditation for advanced imaging like CT scans in order to bill them. For example, here is a link to the information from Medicare on accreditation for advanced imaging like CT’s and who to contact to become accredited:
https://www.cms.gov/Medi...c-Imaging-Suppliers.html

Hope this helps1

Hello there,

I'm trying to find the ICD Code for a 3D Orthodontic Survey (CAT Scan) for a patient who has a cleft palate and requires the CAT Scan in preparation for a bone graft and orthodontic treatment. Can anyone help? The only ICD Code I can find is: Q37.8 for bilateral Cleft Palate.

Thanks
