Hi Guest!

41874 - Alveoloplasty, each quadrant (specify)

That sounds appropriate for the situation to me - the code's description asks to specify quadrants, not teeth!

Here are the JO qualifiers that you can use to specify the quadrants:
10 : Upper right quadrant
20 : Upper left quadrant
30 : Lower left quadrant
40: Lower right quadrant

Examples of how this would look on the medical claim can be found in the NUCC's CMS 1500 claim form manual here, starting on page 46-48:
https://www.nucc.org/images/stories/PDF/1500_claim_form_instruction_manual_2023_07-v11.pdf

Hope this helps!

Hello -

One of our doctors performed an alveoplasty in an edentulous quadrant in preparation for dentures. Should we bill CPT code 41874 as there are no teeth/extractions involved?
