Hi CS!

No problem - based on what you described, here are some possible ICD-10 (diagnosis) coding options for your provider:

S02.5XXD - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), subsequent encounter for fracture with routine healing
S02.5XXG - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), subsequent encounter for fracture with delayed healing
K04.7 - Periapical abscess without sinus
K04.6 - Periapical abscess with sinus
K02.7 - Dental root caries
K04.01 - Reversible pulpitis
K04.02 - Irreversible pulpitis
K08.89 - Other specified disorders of teeth and supporting structures

As for the crosscodes for the three codes you mentioned:

D2950 - core buildup, including any pins when required
D2740 - crown - porcelain/ceramic substrate
D0000 - i don't show this as an active CDT/dental code, however it looks like your provider assigned this "dummy code" to some type of cosmetic procedure...

As for the codes listed above, there are not direct crosscodes we are aware of (just like for root canals), so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can use the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

The same diagnosis code(s) will apply if these services are all being done for the same reason.

Hope this helps!

I need help finding help finding a billable medical Diagnosis Code for having a root canal, for the displaced tooth #6 that was straightened and braced. When the brace came off, I told the Doctor that I was having pain/sensation just to the right of my nostril. He referred me to a root specialist. You gave me the code for the root canal procedure as #41899, but I need a diagnosis code for why I needed a root canal. I cannot seem to get the dental office to tell me why other than due to "trauma". They did tell me the root was damaged, and infected.

#41899- Need Medical Diagnosis Code

Also, I need procedure and diagnosis codes for a crown on tooth #6
For codes:

D2950- CORE BUILDUP W/P
D2740- CROWN PORC/CERAM
D0000- ENHANC COSMETIC

Thank You,
CS
