Hello,

What would be an appropriate CPT and ICD-10 code for D7280 and D7283 to bill patients medical insurance?

Hi Guest!

D7280 - surgical access of an unerupted tooth
D7283 - placement of device to facilitate eruption of impacted tooth

The codes listed above does not have a direct crosscode we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can use the CPT codes below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

The diagnosis code(s) used will depend on the condition/symptoms, or in other words, why is the patient receiving the services?

For example, if it is for impacted teeth, you can use:
K01.1 - Impacted teeth

If it is for a different reason, if you'd like to provide me additional details about the condition I'm happy to offer you some coding options.

Hope this helps!
