Hi,

Is there a crosscode for D4321 (provisional splinting-extracoronal). In our experience this is a procedure almost never covered by dental ins, so I was thinking if I could submit to medical after submitting it to dental? If so, is there a medical code for it? diagnosis code? modifier if needed?

Thank you

Alex

Hi Guest,
D4321 - provisional splinting - extracoronal

The codes listed above do not have direct crosscodes we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can use the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

Hope this helps!
