Nierman Practice Management and Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine Now Provide Specialized Sleep Medicine Education for Dentists
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 20, 2014 -- As the dangers of sleep apnea and sleep disorders in general become more recognized and understood, the emphasis on receiving proper treatment is simultaneously increasing. Dentists are uniquely placed as primary care clinicians to be instrumental in the screening, referral and treatment of patients with sleep issues and snoring problems as part of a medical-dental team. Because of the collaborative nature in the treatment of sleep apnea, it is important that dentists have a solid understanding of sleep medicine in order to effectively communicate and send referrals within the medical community.
To meet this need, Nierman Practice Management and the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine are launching a seminar series that equips dental practices with the knowledge and confidence needed to better connect with the sleep and medical community. Sleep Medicine for the Dental Practice: How to Make Lasting Impressions with Patients & Physicians, gives insight into helping physicians of different specialties identify at-risk patients to maximize the value of referral relationships. In addition, the course empowers the practice with the protocols to obtain medical reimbursement and the knowledge to provide excellent patient care and not just take impressions.
The 2-day seminar offers a unique multi-disciplinary faculty from sleep specialists with backgrounds in pulmonology, neurology, and psychology to a dentist who has successfully transitioned his practice to only sleep and TMD and the leading expert in medical billing and documentation for dental sleep medicine. In addition to gaining the practical knowledge and tools needed to develop a thriving dental sleep medicine practice, attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion demonstrating that they have been educated by one of the top sleep schools in the country, and have been trained by some of the most renowned and respected specialists in the sleep medicine industry.
“Had this course been available years ago to give me the tools to answer the ‘Why should I send you patients?’ question from potential referring physicians, building a network of sleep apnea referral relationships in my practice would have been a much faster and less embarrassing process,” said Mayoor Patel, DDS, MS. “Through this two-day course, we will help to equip dental practices with the information they need to confidently answer this question. From medical reimbursement to the knowledge to build relationships with sleep specialists and various physician specialties, this unique course will equip dentists and their team with the tools needed to help more people suffering from obstructive sleep apnea get the treatment they need and to provide superior patient care."
This course is recommended for any dentist that is interested in becoming a well-rounded expert in the field of sleep medicine in order to provide the best possible care for their patients. Upon completion, graduates will receive 16 CE Credits through AGD PACE and ADA CERP.
Nierman Practice Management will be launching the first course of the series on October 24-25th at the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine in Atlanta, GA. The course is limited to 25 participants to ensure participants receive individual attention.
