Hi guest!

Great questions. The DentalWriter crosscode software can help you crosscode medical and dental codes.

D0140 = limited oral evaluation - problem focused
Possible CPT code options:
99201, 99211

(keep in mind, medical office visits are different than dental office visits)

D7240 = Removal of impacted tooth-completely bony
There is no direct cross code for a CPT code for this one, many medical insurers list D7240 as the accepted HCPCS code to bill for this to medical in their medical policies. ("D" codes are actually in the medical coding books, in the HCPCS book)

D9248 = Non-intravenous conscious sedation
Possible CPT code options:
Moderate sedation codes 99143-99150, although many medical insurers will accept the "D" code for this as well.

Hope this helps!

What live course are there for dental billing and insurance in New Jersey and Philadelphia area? Looking to get updated on a lot of the new insurance rules and regulation RE: xrays, when to take them for insurance purpose and narratives.

Hi Guest!

D6066 - implant supported porcelain fused to metal crown (titanium, titanium alloy, high noble metal)
D6056 - prefabricated abutment - includes modification and placement

There is not a direct cross code for a CPT code for these codes. Some medical insurers will process the "D" code if the service is deemed medically necessary.

Otherwise, you can try an unspecific CPT and include a narrative explanation. Some options may be:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures
40899 - Unlisted procedure, vestibule of mouth
41599 - Unlisted procedure, tongue, floor of mouth

Hi Guest!

We don't have any courses scheduled soon for the New Jersey & Philadelphia areas, but we do have plenty of other cities available.

Here is a list to our full course schedule:
https://www.dentalwriter.com/Events_List.aspx

The courses focused on medical billing in dentistry is named "Cross-Coding: Unlocking the Code to Medical Billing in Dentistry - Rose Nierman"

Hi guest!

D7210 - surgical removal of erupted tooth requiring removal of bone and/or sectioning of tooth, and including elevation of mucoperiosteal flap if indicated
D4263 - bone replacement graft - first site in quadrant
D6065 - implant supported porcelain/ceramic crown
D6057 - custom fabricated abutment - includes placement
D4266 - guided tissue regeneration - resorbable barrier, per site

None of the codes listed above have a direct crosscode we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can try the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

This code below does have CPT codes you can use:
D6010 - surgical placement of implant body: endosteal implant
CPT codes:
21248 Reconstruction of mandible or maxilla, endosteal implant (eg, blade, cylinder); partial
21249 Reconstruction of mandible or maxilla, endosteal implant (eg, blade, cylinder); complete

Hi guest!

D4212 - gingivectomy or gingivoplasty to allow access for restorative procedure, per tooth

The code listed above does not have a direct crosscode we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can try the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

Hope this helps, have a great day!
