Hi There!

I recently had a patient whom needed her chin implant removed cause it was exposed and got infected. She has asked me to help her bill her medical insurance.

Is there a proper CPT Code and Diagnosis code for this?

Thanks!

Hi Jessica!

Here are some coding options for you below:

CPT:
20670 - Removal of implant; superficial (eg, buried wire, pin or rod) (separate procedure)
20680 - Removal of implant; deep (eg, buried wire, pin, screw, metal band, nail, rod or plate)

ICD-10:
T85.79XA - Infection and inflammatory reaction due to other internal prosthetic devices, implants and grafts, initial encounter

Hope this helps!
