Hi Robin!

Great question. There is not a benefit verification tool to obtain medical policy benefit information electronically directly from the insurer within DentalWriter (like the benefit verification tools some clearinghouses such as Availity or healthcare platforms such as Navinet contain....many times those types of benefit verification tools are only able to give you generalized information such as deductible, coinsurance and benefit categories, rather than specific information such as is a pre-authorization required and/or prescription from a physician...... many practices I work with state even if they utilize a tool like that, a call to the insurer to obtain the rest of the information still needs to happen), however there is a section of the patient's chart in DentalWriter that you can record & store the benefit verification information collected during the benefit verification call and calculate the estimated covered vs. out of pocket amount in DentalWriter.

This tool is found in any patient chart, on the tab labeled "benefits". The benefits tool will guide you through collecting the information during the call such as deductible amount and if any has been met, effective date, the coinsurance amount, and whether the policy as in and/or out of network coverage. Once the information is supplied, it will calculate the estimate covered vs. reimbursement amount. If you would like a walk through on utilizing this tool, feel free to give us a call, or shoot us an e-mail to contactus@dentalwriter.com!

I thought I had seen something about being able to perform insurance verifications with Dental Writer? Is this a possibility?

We are looking to take more and more in-house of the process from 1rst visit to last follow-up for our Sleep Apnea patients.

Thank you

Robin
