Great question. That can certainly work, although you likely will not be able to simply "copy the claim" from DentalWriter over to Open Dental. I am not familiar with the ins and outs of Open Dental's medical claim capabilities, but most dental pm software's would make you hand type in a majority of the fields on the medical claim.

We use Open Dental as our dental software, and there is the ability to send medical claims through them also. We do not use APEX as our billing service, so we can't send electronic medical claims from DW. Instead of sending in the paper claim, my thought is to set up the medical side of Open Dental with all the correct CPT and DX codes, and then copy the claim in DW to Open Dental.

Does that make sense?

Any other suggestions?
