Hi Guest!

D8090 - Comprehensive orthodontic treatment of the adult dentition

There are not a direct crosscodes we are aware of for these procedures, so when the medical insurer will not accept/process the "D" code on the pre-authorization request/medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), you can use the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

It will be important that you include diagnosis codes to describe the trauma from the fall, and the fall itself in order for them to deem it medical in nature instead of dental in nature. If you need help with that, feel free to provide me with some details about the trauma/damage, and how the fall happened and I can offer you some coding options.

Hope this helps!

Can anyone help. I needed ortho care due to a fall. Need to convert D8090 to a medical code. Any other ideas on what codes I could use to have my BC PPO pick this up?
