Hi Guest!

We work with many DDS & DMD's who successfully bill medical insurance using CPT & HCPCS codes, for medically necessary services performed in the dental practice setting. In fact, under Medicare Part A/B, DDS and DMD is actually listed in the "physician" category!

We do hear from our clients from time to time that a medical insurer told them that they didn't have a way to let a DDS/DMD join their medical network (i.e. especially for sleep apnea appliances), as their system was only set up accommodate oral surgeons, however that does seem to be getting fewer and further between.

Hope this helps!

Hi,
Can someone tell me if cross coding is for any dentist or only oral surgeons? In SC I was informed medical codes can only be billed by a Oral Surgeon, whom also holds a MD license. Is this true ? Thanks!
