Hi DIAnna!

Great question. I have been told use of the JO qualifiers to indicate areas of the oral cavity for extraction cases can be helpful for Medicare. I do believe most Medicare Part B jurisdiction will process the "D" codes for extractions, and of course make sure you have the proper diagnosis code(s) for the jaw bone infection :)

Good Morning Courtney,

Is there any tricks to billing Medicare for teeth extractions? This for extraction with infection in the jaw bone. I know that Medicare usually doesn't pay for extractions. But this case the infection was in the jaw bone and the tooth had to be removed.
Any suggestions would really help.
